The 2007 AVCA Annual Convention is going to
beautiful Sacramento! With more educational
opportunities than ever before, an enhanced
Volleyball Marketplace and other new convention
features, it may be the first time to have ever had
a critical mass of college, club, high school and
beach coaches at the same place sharing expertise,
talking shop, and enjoying the shared love of the
game.
The three specific programs at this years convention
are;
AVCA Talent Showcase:
This new program for unsigned and uncommitted high
school juniors and seniors is designed to get them
“another look” or a “fresh look” from college
coaches that are attending the Convention. It will
take place on Sunday, Dec. 16 from 9:00 a.m. to
12:00 noon at the Sacramento Convention Center. We
generally have about 700-800 college coaches from
all divisions and levels attending our convention.
I’m quite certain a good number of them will stay to
check out these players. The added benefit is that
the NCAA Championship match is Saturday evening at
6:00 p.m. and I assume most will want to take that
in also.
Talent Showcase Registration From
Saturday-Only Convention package:
This one-day $125 clinic features national team
coach Hugh McCutcheon, Former Olympian Kim Oden,
Florida’s Mary Wise, USC’s Mick Haley, TCA’s Neal
Mason and many, many others. The programming is
directed specifically at the club and high school
level. This is an ideal opportunity to mingle and
network with the top coaches at all levels – without
spending a week and an arm and a leg. Of course we
would welcome the participation of any of club
director in the whole convention (see Preliminary
Seminar Schedule below).

NCAA/AVCA Minority Coaches Clinic:
This clinic starts on Tuesday, Dec. 12 and is
directed at ethnic minorities, primarily women. The
fee is $125 and the early clinic is designed to give
new minority coaches a networking group and to give
them an introduction to the rest of the Convention.
The fee includes the entire four day convention for
a first-time attendee.
