2007 High Performance Program Overview
The mission of the CEVA's High Performance
Program is to increase the level of competition by
providing additional training opportunities for our
coaches and athletes by following the USA Volleyball
National Team's training philosophies. Also, to
identify, train, and assist our top coaches and athletes
in preparation to enter the Pipeline to the National
Teams.
2004 was our first year of this program. We sent one
Youth Regional team to Austin, Texas to compete in the
U.S. High Performance Championships (formerly known as
VolleyClassic). In 2005, our program grew to three teams
and we sent a Junior Regional Team and a Youth Regional
Team to compete in the Junior Global Challenge in
Salt Lake City, Utah and one Select Regional Team to the
U.S. High Performance Championships in Austin, Texas. In
2006 we sent our Junior Regional team to Europe to
compete in the Junior Global Challenge.
2007 will mark our 3rd spring training camp to further
develop our coaches and athletes. The player camp and
coaches clinic will be led by John Kessel, USA
Volleyball Director of Grass Roots and Erikka Gulbranson,
U.S. Junior National Team Assistant Coach. This year,
our goal is to send one Junior and Youth Regional Team
to compete in the Junior Global Challenge in Salt Lake
City, Utah. We would also like to send one
Select Team to the U.S. High Performance Championship in
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
